Class: Sweater Top and Patchwork Skirt
Medium: Multicolor Recycled Wool and Red Nylon
Descriptions: This patchwork skirt, made from recycled fabrics, reflects a sustainable design approach that transforms textile remnants into a cohesive, expressive garment. Inspired by the graphic patterns and visual rhythms of bògòlanfini (Malian mud cloth), the skirt echoes its bold contrasts, symbolic motifs, and layered storytelling through varied textures and prints. By combining reuse with cultural reference, the design bridges traditional West African aesthetics and contemporary fashion practices focused on sustainability and material innovation.

XULY.Bët
XULY.Bët is a Paris-based fashion label founded in 1989/1991 by Malian-Senegalese designer Lamine Badian Kouyaté, whose name comes from the Wolof phrase meaning “open your eyes wide.” The brand became known in the 1990s for its innovative upcycling approach, transforming second-hand garments and textiles into bold, expressive pieces with exposed seams and creative re-construction that blend African heritage with urban style. XULY.Bët has earned international recognition for challenging conventional fashion norms through sustainable design, collaborations, and shows at major fashion weeks, while maintaining a vibrant, eclectic aesthetic rooted in cultural diversity and eco-responsibility.
